Our focus is helping everyday people get on top of their pain and teaching them how their unique history and lifestyle plays a role in their health. If they understand how their body works they can then employ strategies to minimise their dependence on therapy moving forward and live a fulfilling life. Our niche is that extra mile, thorough examinations and comprehensive history taking that sometimes involve tears and hugs. Our skills are expert soft tissue techniques including dry needling and joint manipulation to reduce/remove pain. With a progression to postural coaching and advice, high level spinal movement, strength and awareness coaching coupled with the basic framework of gait, running and lifting mechanics. For some people that means only one visit. We do not believe in "the subluxation model" that so many chiropractors sell. This is simply because it does not empower patients, it creates dependency on treatment and leads to patients feeling like damaged goods and most importantly there is limited research to support it. However, some clients do benefit from ongoing treatment to help them manage their day to day activities with less discomfort.
If we see a complex issue out of our scope, especially acute post injury, we refer on to a physio or sports physician.
If we see a patient who wants to lose weight and has good body awareness and the foundations of good movement, we will refer to a PT. If they have more complex lifestyle conditions such as heart disease or metabolic issues or needs a more skilled approach we will refer on to an EP.
If someone needs more than basic foot strengthening or manipulation/mobilisation of the foot, we refer to a podiatrist.
We believe as primary health practitioners we all have important roles to play within our lanes and if we can work together our patients can get amazing healthcare.
